Specialisms

Each young person, and their profile of strengths and difficulties, is unique. Some of the youngsters that I work with, already have existing diagnoses and a known profile of needs whilst other do not. Many parents approach me as they feel that their child is struggling in education with no known reason. I work sensitively to unravel the presenting difficulties and enable the child to be, and feel, successful in an educational context.
The types of cases I most commonly see are where:
- a child is unhappy or felt to be underachieving at school but there is a lack of clarity about why that is.
- a child has an existing profile of diagnosed needs, and their parents want to know how these can be best met in a school environment.
- a child is experiencing difficulty forming friendships and struggles socially to connect with their peers.
- a young person is approaching public examinations, and parents want to ensure that they have the right support in place for their child, leading up to this important time.
- a school placement is breaking down and parents want to know what the next steps could be.
- there are concerns around a child's attention and focus in the classroom, and sometimes at home too.
- a point of transition, a school move or relocation, is on the horizon, and parents want a full evaluation of their child's needs and strengths in order to inform school placement.
- the child is out of school, for whatever reason, and a home-schooling educational plan needs to be established.
